Three weeks into January, and I haven’t been at all consistent with the routine I supposedly established as a New Year 2020 resolution. I haven’t painted a thing, although I completed and sent off some photo art pieces for family gifts. I also picked up my paintings that had been hanging during the Art Association December show -- one actually SOLD!!! The most I did with my website and blog was to put two blog topics on a list. I have, actually, done some work for the Public Health Family Planning Clinic. I missed several exercise classes, although I attended one Neuro-strength MELT workshop and danced like crazy at the post-holiday hospital party. I’ve skied just nine days so far in January (still eight days behind my husband).

Instead of doing what I meant to do, I had other things that occupied my time. I had YAG surgery on my eye. My husband and I made the sad decision to euthanize our 15-year-old dog. I worked on event planning with the hospital Auxiliary, and also helped to host a potential replacement for my supposedly-retiring husband. And, I spent four full days with my grandson, while his mother was on a business trip and his father was sick, which I guess could be considered exercise. While driving to their home either side of those four days, I finished an audiobook, and finished another book just hours after I returned home.

Lack of productivity is not my problem!

Today is Tuesday, and I should have done something art-related. Instead, I finished that book I referred to above, relaxed, and watched the birds feeding on suet hung from our spruce trees. We were able to record the first new bird visitor -- a Gray Jay -- in a very long time. I ate a yummy salami sandwich prepared by my husband (he ate one, too) and then we went for a walk along the river with our puppy. My rule (which I KNOW is not followed by my husband…) is that our dogs need to be on lead while going down to and coming back up from the river. Not many other people do this with their dogs, but I think it’s good manners to do so. My puppy was NOT inclined to heel on lead going down to the river path, but was much better on the way back up -- of course, he was exhausted from playing with the other dogs! We have both agreed to work daily on obedience training with our puppy, who is 90 lb. of solid energy.

My website/blog work is done for the week, although Wednesday is the day to which it is dedicated. That’s a good thing, because I have too many other things to do on Wednesday!!!
